In 2009, Sweden adopted a National Cancer Strategy for the Future. This document takes into account that prostate cancer is the most common cancer type in men and collects data and reports about the evolution of prostate cancer incidence and mortality over the years. The Cancer Strategy also points out that there is no organised screening for prostate cancer in Sweden.
Sweden also follows the guidelines provided by the National Care Programme for prostate cancer to set additional recommendations about the care pathway of patients:
