SURVIVAL

There is no up-to-date data about the average five-year survival rates for prostate cancer in Greece. In the absence of a nationwide cancer registry, there is a need for more comprehensive patient outcomes data collection.1

CANCER CARE

Access to Specialists

There are 10,000 inhabitants per each 1 urologist in Greece,1 which makes it the EU country with the highest number of urologists per population, followed by Spain2 and Germany.3 This figure confirms a general tendency in the country: Greece has the highest number of doctors, along with the lowest number of nurses per 1 000 population in the EU, as well as a very specialist-focused health system -only 1 in 16 healthcare professionals are general practitioners.4
